The form we teach at The Movement School, the Short Yang Form, was inspired by Cheng Man-Ch'ing and his senior students in America. The Movement School offers a modern American approach to a Classical Chinese study which embodies the principles found within the teachings of Lao Tzu.

Our orientation is three fold.

• We study Tai Chi as movement meditation, kinesthetic contemplation, proprioceptive prayer, and as a way toward sensory silence.

• We take great pleasure in the austere beauty inherent in the solo form and the sword form.

• We practice Tai Chi as a path to peace, the simple, but not always easy practice, of living a non-defensive, non-offensive life.
